Research- final major project: target audience

The primary focus of my target audience are children, playing for children is crucial for their physical, social, and cognitive development, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Sustainable playgrounds offer them an opportunity to explore, learn, and develop in an environmentally friendly space. By incorporating recycled materials, natural elements, and energy-efficient designs, I want to create a playground that is not only a play space but also an outdoor classroom that install an early love for nature in the new generation.

The 2023 population density in Zambia is 28 people per Km2 (72 people per mi2), calculated on a total land area of 743,390 Km2 (287,024 sq. miles). ( Worldmeter no date)

I want the playground to be a safe place for parents and children to relax, enjoy and have some fresh, natural air. As the chart below show, the population in Zambia have been growing wider over the years resulting in overpopulation in certain city.

Eunine Fay Jones - Research

E. Fay Jones was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, USA on January 31, 1921. Final major project: Digital software

For my project I will use SketchUp to help me achieve my final design. SketchUp is an easy 3D modelling programme . SketchUP landscape design SketchUp is a really handy software for landscape architects and designers who want to create playground designs. It has many useful features and advantages that are specifically designed to meet their requirements. Here are some reasons why SketchUp is a great option for for this task: 1. User friendly interface  The interface of SketchUp is well-known for being easy to use and understand. Beginners and professionals alike can easily navigate the workspace and utilise the simple tools. Even if you are new to it, you can quickly grasp the basics and start creating 3D models without any difficulties. 2. 3D modelling capabilities SketchUp is great at creating detailed 3D models. It helps designers visualise playground layouts, equipment, and landscaping elements in a realistic three-dimensional space. The software has precise modelling to...

Ideas Development - The Object lesson

For this task, we continued developing the initials idea we worked on last week to make them stronger. To do that we chose objects to help us expand our Ideas. The first step was to observe the object and answer questions such as "what does it make me think of" "does it have texture" " how can I adapt it to my initial idea". Then the second step was to write down all the associations with the object.  I chose two objects for this exercise which were a ceramic house and an old piece of wood.  The ceramic house displayed a visually textured yet smooth surface, embellished with vivid colours that produced a unique splashing effect. In contrast, the weathered piece of wood, aged and covered in a layer of sand, exhibited the enduring marks of time. I wrote down what these two objects made me think of and tried to develop my ideas based on them.
