Art Portfolio 1: Project statement

For my AP1 project, I intend to produce six 2D outcomes including architectural concept drawing of a multi faith centre, elevations, site map along with a physical 3D representation of either the entire or one aspect of my building design. The centre is envisioned as a space for individuals of various religious backgrounds to engage in contemplation and prayer.

The main inspiration for my design is from the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral because of its creative use of materials, thoughtful spatial considerations, integration with surroundings, incorporation of cultural and religious symbolism, structural engineering challenges and the inclusion of sustainability features. I will on my project over the next six weeks. Utilising sketching and digital tools like Photoshop and Pixlar, I will develop the different side views of the multi faith centre. The 3D representation will incorporate materials such as Mount Board, foam-board, and easy to cut materials like lime wood or balsa. Throughout this endeavour, I aim to enhance my digital and drawing skills in order to create a portfolio within the conventions of my subject area that will be showcased on my website.

They also foster open dialogue to break down cultural and religious barriers through shared spaces and activities, as well as promote the idea that diversity is an asset by providing a space where all faiths are respected  (KAICIID, 2020).  Understanding diverse cultural and rel...
