This research aims to gain insights into the broader market of the cities around new Cromwell in order to respond to the need of the users of the information and tourist centre adequately.
My target audience for this project are the tourists in Connecticut as well as the tourists from nearby states which are Massachusetts in the north, Rhode Island in the east and New York in the west.
New Crowell Population
The graph above shows the age demographic of new Cromwell. The graph shows a relative young population which can mean that most of the population might travel a lot.
New York city is one of the most visited cities of the united state which can mean some visitors might end up travelling in the state around and for that researching the tourism demographic of the state is important to satisfy the target audience of the tourist centre. In 2019, most of the people who visited New York City were on vacation, making up 80% of the total visitors. At the same time, 80% of the visitors were from within the country (DiNapoli and Jain, 2021).
Total visitors to New York City
In 2020, over half of all trips in the Massachusetts started in New England, with most people visiting friends and relatives. Most travelers used personal cars, and nearly half of those staying overnight in Massachusetts chose hotels or motels. In 2020, Massachusetts had 26.2 million domestic visitors and 2.4 million international visitors in 2019 (Massachusetts , 2020).
On the other hand, The state of Rhode Island reported a growth of 5.4% in 2022. Visitors spent 17% more in Rhode Island than in 2021, reaching a total of $5.3 billion and creating $7.9 billion in traveler-related spending. This increase in spending helped maintain 84,386 jobs, with one out of every eight jobs in Rhode Island being supported by visitor activity (Rhode Island, 2024).

ReplyDeleteOk, good research plenty of information - how are you using this research in your project? How does it impact what you are designing? For example, you note that people tend to travel by car. Therefore, do you need to increase the size of your car park? Should road access be improved on to your site? How can you do this?
