Research- final major project: target audience

The primary focus of my target audience are children, playing for children is crucial for their physical, social, and cognitive development, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Sustainable playgrounds offer them an opportunity to explore, learn, and develop in an environmentally friendly space. By incorporating recycled materials, natural elements, and energy-efficient designs, I want to create a playground that is not only a play space but also an outdoor classroom that install an early love for nature in the new generation. The 2023 population density in Zambia is 28 people per Km2 (72 people per mi2), calculated on a total land area of 743,390 Km2 (287,024 sq. miles). ( Worldmeter  no date) Population I want the playground to be a safe place for parents and children to relax, enjoy and have some fresh, natural air. As the chart below show, the population in Zambia have been growing wider over the years resulting in overpopulation in certain city....

Research - Final major project: Style of Architecture

For me Playground architecture is about designing and planning outdoor spaces, I am interested in design that are functional, and give purpose to community. For this project I am inspired by three Architects, Kunal Maniar, Carl Theodor Sorensen and Aldo Van Eyck. Kunal Maniar Carl Theodor Sorensen Aldo Van Eyck Kunal Maniar is one of the most famous landscape architects in India. He worked on many projects and always cares about nature but most importantly about water conservation. As my project focuses on the ecosystem and sustainability, Kunal Maniar is a great inspiration with his work and techniques. "Landscape architecture and mindful planning interventions applied at a large scale can help restore ecological balance in regions that have suffered ill-effects of exploitation by humans and build resilience against anthropogenic climate change" (Kunal Maniar, 2023). Architects such as, Carl Theodor Sorensen and designers who work on playground architecture focus on creating...

Architecture design board

To help me with project I designed an architecture design board to present a part of my project  The first attempt at creating this design board did not go well as I did not which element were necessary for  a design board. After more research and help from my tutor, I was able to create better design boards that I posted on Wix.

Week six: Technical research and beginning of design work

Project research and idea development Project title : sustainable landscape playground in Zambia Project aims and objectives :  For my Architecture project I will design a playground park for families with children to enjoy fresh air in all security. The playground (elements) will use sustainable materials. the Park is located in Kitwe, Zambia because the city has only one playground for all the children which is not safe because it is always crowded and the weather is hot which will help the habitants to get fresh air.   To have a clear idea of my project I created a plan view of it.

Project plan: sustainable landscape playground in zambia

For my final project I created a Venngage to help me keep track of my work and planning

Creating a website: about me page

Hey there! I am Tania Banza, currently studying architecture at De Montfort University. While I originally come from Congo, I have spent most of my life in the beautiful country of Zambia. Growing up in these diverse cultures has given me a deep appreciation for creativity and uniqueness of African architecture. My passion lies in the connection between mathematics and art, which I combine in the field of architecture. What really excites me about architecture is how buildings have their own stories to tell. The older they are, the more fascinating their narratives become. I am captivated by ancient buildings and how they hold secrets of past eras, telling tales of history and culture.  I wrote this directly to my website because i knew exactly what I wanted to say  I went to the About me page and clicked on "edit text". I chose the Futura light font and got the 14px size which was set by default and started writing my text.  When I finished writing I changed the backgrou...
