Project outline

This term we used a pre-project outline to plan our project. The form started with a brief to outline our initials ideas followed by a section outlining the timeline for each week to help us stay on track with our work. After completing the forms, we had individual tutorials with our tutors to discuss the pre project outline and our ideas.  The link to my project outline:   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KQ9RUAr9nLCP6Q8EHJLNbAy3GUH_R8_5Pys6sFS-VjE/edit?usp=sharing

Eunine Fay Jones - Research

E. Fay Jones was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, USA on January 31, 1921. He spent his childhood in the rural Ozark Mountains, where he gained love for nature and the environment, which had an impact on his architectural designs later in life. After completing his studies at Rice University, he joined Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural practice, Taliesin Associated Architects, as an apprentice. He worked closely with Wright on several projects, including the renowned Taliesin West in Arizona (Compton, 2023). Fay Jones E. Fay Jones is famous for his natural architectural style, which includes integrating buildings with the environment, using materials like stone and wood, and incorporating geometric shapes inspired by nature. "Jones ignored architectural trends and instead focused on his own organic aesthetic with materials found in The Ozarks and familiar traditional forms from his home region"(mariathuroczy, 2013) .  One of his design that has inspired me for this project...

Development of Ideas with visual research

Last week we worked on our map mind to get different ideas of what we would like our design to look like or to know what we wanted to include in the design of our structures. This week we worked on developing those ideas to work on the concept of our projects. To do that, we took one of our initial ideas from the map mind as a starting point and chose one of the images handles to us by our tutor. Giacomo Balla, Velocity of an Automobile, 1913 I chose this image to develop my idea because it contains multiple lines going in various directions which creates various angular geometric shapes. As showed in my mind map, I aim for the design of my structure to be made of angular geometric forms. For the first Idea I worked with the rectangles which are in the back of the perspective. The lines made me think of windows so I came up with this idea. For the second idea I got inspired by the shape of these particular lines and the triangles formed by the shape toward the end of the image. The lin...

Ideas generation

For the first week of art portfolio, we got our respective brief for our final project of the term. My project is based on a tourist information and visitors centre which needs to serve 5000 people. The centre should include a gift shop, cloakrooms, staff room, parking for both staff and public, reception/office, janitor office, toilets and everything should be wheelchair accessible. to expand our ideas on our diferent brief we were asked to make a mind map and to be creative about it. "A mind map is a diagram in which information is represented visually, usually with a central idea placed in the middle and associated ideas arranged around it"( oxford dictionary). When I began creating my mind map, I was unsure of where to start. All I knew was that I needed a large structure to accommodate 5000 people and that I wanted to incorporate natural elements due to the proximity of the centre to the forest and the sea. And since the city of New Cromwell has gone through a devastatin...

Welcome to Art Portfolio 2

Welcome to the second term of art portfolio. This term is exciting because we are working on a larger project on which we will be collaborating with each other as we are recreating a town. To start off, we are initiating this term with the creation of this welcome post. Looking back at the challenges in the previous term, I struggled with time management which I intend to work on, in order to get feedback from my tutor to improve the quality of my project. I am also dedicated to increase the frequency of my blogs updates for more consistent sharing of my progress throughout the term. I want to explore more 3D softwares and improve my hand-drawing skills throughout this term. I am looking forward to……
